Reports from tv italia that we have agreed a 6 year deal for Lamela for 2.4mil salary a year rising. Also tweeted by a tv Italy journo & commentator
Riccardo Trevisani translates to

" In Madrid: Lamela-Rome-Tottenham us the details. Missing signatures but there is total agreement. 6 years contract to the player. From 2.4 to rise"

If so wow. Been laughing on all Arsenal blogs that they are going to hijack the deal and he wants to go to arsenal, honestly this season AS IF.

Anyone think Jonas soldados ex strike partner at Valencia would be a good shout for us. They scored 130 between them in 3 seasons, he is 29 creates chances and last year of contract so available for round 10.
Seems a good look to me and worth a punt, also with paulinho and Sandro there and trying to be in the Brazil squad.

Marc643

1.) Once dubbed the worst striker in the world! As long as we don't want him to score goals well worth a punt!

2.) Sounds like the perfect candidate for us then.

3.) Haha Welky, no way I hadn't heard that before, I though the two were supposed to be pretty lethal together at Valencia, oh well

Can anyone understand the decision to choose bentaleb ahead of capoue we were doomed as soon as that decision was made.
Dembele ended up doing the ball winning work. Capoue has been good each time he has played and that was a complete school boy error. Bentaleb has a bright future but a spot on the bench is OK but starting was ludicrous in my opinion.
Who plays 442 against a good passing unit without a natural ball winner in the team. Then when they are slicing balls through never to even change it. Is Sherwood going to be as stubborn as avb was.
Sherrewood lost us that game first yesterday Danny rose second.

Marc643

1.) THFC$EVER I would even go as far as offering Soldado plus some cash to ath Madrid for diego costa
i agree with you on Lamela. I think he is going to be a great player, he just needs more game time in a confident winning team

AVB has now inevitably been sacked, now let's see what happens, maybe hoddle will take to the end of season, personally I think it was the right decision unfortunately as avb couldn't turn things around.

I also think that if someone sets the players out correctly we can turn the season round immediately.

Onwards and upwards.

COYS

Marc643

1.) Tim Sherwood or Glenn Hoddle for me

2.) I do feel for him, needing to bed in 7 new players. But I feel that it's his stubbornness that has cost him another job.
When there are injuries to your back line and you're fielding Dawson, Capoue & Naughton, against a Suarez, Sterling & Coutinho, you can not afford to play the high line.

Capello looks to be favourite, I would love for Laudrup to come in. Attack minded and plays the sort of football that we want to get back to seeing

3.) Let's face or we going to end up with Capello with his ties with Baldini it just seems inevitable. I personally do not see Hoddle as the man for the job but you never know. Laudrup would be my choice as he'd get us attacking and organised. You asked me for positivity 643, does his sacking help with the positivity? Lol

4.) 16 Dec 2013 12:09:37
Glen hoddle

Lmfao

5.) Tim Sherwood. Come on, we need a proven manager

6.) 16 Dec 2013 12:21:25
Hopefully Michael laudrup will take over

7.) We had the best manager I've seen at spurs for years and got rid of him. Ok he didn't always see eye to eye with Levy. I bet Harry's laughing now.

I have no doubt if HR had these players we would be scoring goals.

As for AVB's comments yesterday we've had the most shots so far this season. He needs to have another look, 90% of them shots just about made the bl00dy goal.

AVB - Hasn't a clue how to man manage furthermore plays a high line in defence with the slowest defender in the league in Mr Dawson (who has been our worst player this season by far). come on you don't even get away with this over Hackney marshes.

8.) Tim Sherwood until end of season I reckon.

9.) Yeah because proven managers have worked so well for us. We need a man that understands the club the supporters and the mentality. We need someone who understands the prem and feels for the club. Klinnsman would not work that's just sentiment, capello, don't make me laugh, best managers out their like Klopp won't come so why not try Sherwood til end of the season. New English talent rather than usual foreign failures.

10.) 1985 honestly I think his sacking is very positive. Someone new will play the way we are supposed to and turn things round we have a great squad.

You know for the start of last season dembele and sandro were amongst if not the best midfield pairing in the premiership yet he hasn't let them play together once, not in the same roles as last season anyway.

Regardless what people say about BAE there is no comparison to having Naughton. BAE has never been as poor as yesterdays display.

That said I do worry who gets brought in but don't think it will be soon. I think most of the names mentioned with odds is sheer speculation and as of yet no one has a clue, I guess at sherwood for the mean time.

looks like a hard start for whoever as seems next game is Capoue and Fryers to start in defence.

11.) 643 I really do hope your right, with the names being mentioned I'm not to sure our options of a good manager are that great. Hoddle back in charge, some people really do have short memories. Yes he was good when attacking but terrible defensively and we're leaking so many goals that needs sorting. Capello, well 'could' be a great manager for us but so 'could' any manager. I think we're in for another transition season and a lot more disappointment this year. But that said we are still THFC and I think our team need the fans at full volume for the rest of the season.

12.) Hoddle could work this time around but if he doesn't it will probably seem worse than another foreign manager failing. I think the game has moved on more to what suits Hoddle's tactical expertise and approach in the past 10years. The reality is you generally can't stop a Man City or Chelski if they're completely rampant so need to be able to cause them problems yourself. With 'lesser' teams, they're going to park the bus at WHL if we come on to them so you need to be able to unlock that and protect from the odd counter. Harry did it often, AVB slowed it down and let teams into those games far too softly. Hoddle would change that and can also see the fragility of our defensive tactics if you've listened to him, mind you most have seen and exploited them anyway so should be something relatively simple to improve!

Anyone close to mill hill my rum is finished and can't leave to buy anymore. Anyone!

I could have played for Liverpool and looked like a 10-15 mil player avb is pathetic. Err does he not yet think bae should still be at spurs.

Worst defeat at home in 16 years. Is paulinho unsubable is it only by red card he can leave the field. Funnily enough I think we have a good team if played right I could manage better than avb.

At 2 down I want 5 so that clown can leave he doesn't have a clue there was nothing wrong with naughton but he brought on fryers to win the game, yeah smart move.

Andre give us a wave andre andre give us a wave. Bye bye and please don't look back. Make sure you haven't left anything behind please.

Spurs85 give us the positive look please cause for the life of me I can't see it we beat Sunderland just bottom of league and Fulham 2nd or 3rd bottom and then anzi relegated from their league and thought we were good.

If I had any sense I'd have got some more rum in before this game what a shambles from the first minute to the last.

Marc643

1.) You want positivity my friend then here's all you need. We still support our side win, lose or draw. Again another poor result but whatever happens we'll still stand by our side and the one our manager picks come the West Ham game.

2.) The icing on the cake was taking off Dembele (cm) and putting on another winger in townsend
haha my sons sunday league team manager is better than Avb

3.) Haha spurs85, that is not positivity that's just standard if we got relegated I still support spurs but that isn't positivity.

For me tonight the only positive thing would be avb being sacked, I'd happily sacrifice any January transfer budget to cover it. I don't think our players are useless just avb.

My nan 85 and an arsenal fan would manage us better.

Spurs85 tell me you think avb is still the man for the job and why?or do you agree he needs to go. As Mr g said I'd happily have harry back!

4.) Yeah exactly that's standard so in the bigger picture of being a spurs fan this is just a very small part of it and like today's result being an all around down point in my life as a spurs fan their will obviously be good times to come aswell. Aslong as there is a THFC I'll always support the side and look at the only thing that matters, the one thing that keeps me positive when there are bad results and that is that THFC is still here. We're not in the bottom 3 so relegation isn't likely to happen this season so I'm not going to over react.

As for AVB staying, well as it stands I'm happy for him to see the season out and see what he manages to achieve, if anything, then for the club to make the decision on his future. If we dwell on champions league football then we could make mistakes we come to regret like the question being asked now about 'Arry.

Not getting champions league football will not destroy us (look at Liverpool) but potentially sacking a man who turns out to be the man to lead us to silverware and glory in the future would be disappointing. That being said he's judged by results and he's not getting them so it would be understandable if he lost his job!

5.) Hey spurrs85 for enough, but avb won't bring silverware, we have had a very weak group in Europe so def flattered us, under him top four is impossible so we basically waste the season to sack him in the end and get someone new who also needs time.

His substitutions are so weak, poor and negative at times shocking. I love spurs if we come last but I always hope for more, but to also spend 30 mil on a single player and to never start a single game is crazy.

Big shame, I had high expectations

6.) 643 fair enough can't really disagree with much of what you said. It does seem as if he's outta his depth at times but not as far back as the summer some of the same fans who are asking for his sacking were also touting him as the best young manager in the world so things can turn around very quickly.

I'm not in anyway saying we are going to win silverware just because of how we are performing in the cups because as you said can't judge based on the teams we've played. Let's just say we pick it up in the league in the new year and finish around 6th but we also win Europa cup and league cup. Is he still poor and needs sacking or is winning trophy's enough?

As regards to your comment about Lamela, AVB never signed him Baldini did. That said AVB is supposed to be a coach and should be capable of working with what he has. It's still IMO to early to decide on his fate.

7.) Haha spurs85 just wanted you not to be so positive lol.
If we did win as you said I'd eat my phone but we won't not with this football.
I supported him over the summer and was excited at the prospect of what we could do, reality has hit home.
Last season he achieved our best points tally, but we had our best player ever. If you look at it last season bales scored wonder goal after wonder goal no team goals at all. We placated those with a few lucky penalties at the start, we've used are luck and now need team goals guess what they don't come.

If you view most of our goals are from some individual great goals very few are great team goals that where we have gone wrong. Personally can't seem them coming with this slow football.
Rumours on twitter avb has been sacked I hope they are true but bet they are not.

Mr g,

To answer your question of the other night.

No seems we haven't got our spurs back, poor again at half time. Defence an absolute shambles Naughton awful. Terrible performance we've made Henderson look good and he's awful.

Paulinho has been poor keeps giving the ball away, on the up we can't be as bad second half. I'd like paulinho off for lamela and chadli off for Townsend and get some speed moving forward.

Lennon has hardly touched the ball yet, think for me now I'll start pouring the rum to ease the pain I'm feeling right now.

Spurs85 please give me the positivity now!

Marc643

1.) Forget the injuries which are bad in defence and the pathetic disallowed goal, Avb is clueless. His tactics and team selection are pathetic.

Anyone thinking we have our Tottenham back is very mistaken. We were lucky against Anzi, they should of scored at least three. I see it how it is, we arweplaying pathetically. Avb has his ideas, they don't work get him out. Get Bielsa in.

2.) Well. paulinho did go off.

Well putting soldado on the bench for Kane was beyond ridiculous. Also paulinho has been so poor.
Losing and our first sub is at 75 minutes and didn't even make the third sub. I don't understand how he can be so clueless tactically when everyone else can see.
Levy must already be on the phone to van gaal tonight . hope we can get him or we are in serious trouble.

Terrible game today, boring, so many passes astray, dssidnt look to me like anyone looked desperate to win. Midfield was soft, its a team with no heartbeat, also showed how missed dembele was, to keep choosing bentale over capoue is scandalous.
One thing I don't get we want to win, not playing well and yet not a single change from the bench to do something different. That was ridiculous.
Top 4 I really don't see, there's no fluency, can't wait for Townsend to come back on the left as he looks good left with crosses, and get Erikson middle where we need some creativity. Paulinho isn't an attacking midfielder and doesn't play that role for Brazil play him how he plays best.

We were robbed by the linesman same linesman for both decisions, but you have to say at times our midfield is so far from our defence that you could drive a double decker through the middle of the park.
Even against palace we were the same and most goals come when we are open like that. Got to sort that out.

Totally agree 3 points but not great, first half we looked very open defensively and quite easy to pass through. They will be seriously tested when city arrive in two weeks.
Bentaleb had a decent game and is a good prospect but we must play capoue against city or were in trouble.
We had some good glimpses rose does get down but just crosses anywhere def no end product at all.
