Ade has malaria - won't your US, match fitness will be very low for the start of the season.

Simmo

1.) 14 Jul 2014 00:17:10
Back in training in 9 days shouldn't be a big issue.

2.) 14 Jul 2014 01:13:52
Won't go to US so won't get more than an odd game under his belt before 16th August. I dare say he's had a longer holiday than most already and malaria can take it out of you so doubt he'll be training at full tilt after 9days either.

3.) I wouldn't be relaint on Ade to be fair He's the best player in the league for 3 games & that's as far as it goes.

4.) After three games, offer him a new contract, that will do for another three games

A regular rumour recycled again today: Berbatov. I've always wanted him back on a deal at various times and in hindsight, the extra option, class and goals would've probably given us Champions League football the past year or two. Even this January with things tight and our options risky i.e. Ade may switch off (actually let's face it he'll probably definitely switch off at some point), Soldado not finding the net regularly in the league yet, Defoe on his way and Kane unproven and only reasonable potential at most at this stage. would it be such a silly idea?

Simmo

1.) We're going to need cover with Defoe leaving, but the thought of Ade and Berba in the same dressing room seems like inviting a toy throwing session sooner rather than later.

2.) Or maybe a session of trying to out-do each other on the pitch. Let's face it, we only need a few weeks of that to see enough class to put us bang in where we need to be. I agree, two personalities that might clash but you have to realise the size of the prize vs the investment. Can you really bring in any other proven quality, already playing in the Premier League at a cheap price to see you through Jan-May with a chance to be well in the mix for Champions League football? I would still leave us relatively cost neutral on transfer spend since the summer and still in the black over the past few years.
I like Morata but doesn't look likely. Still need a left-back IMO, Coentrao worth a go but the Madrid relationship only involves us selling them our best players.

We are going to get battered on Saturday. We've given West Brom a league win they've not looked anywhere near getting yet and, made Liverpool look like world-beaters when they've struggled in EVERY other game so far!
Scary how painful it could be.

Simmo

1.) I expect us to loose against them . I'm more concerned about how we loose . if the players don't realise the importance to fans of this game and just cave I will be very concerned for the rest of the season. If the players show fight, commitment and desire to beat them I will feel there is still some hope.

2.) Can't argue, not looking forward to the game on Sat. If Poch goes with Chiriches then it could be any score!! Vert in at left back, fazio in the centre is a must for me!! I will say that fazio looks SLOW, positionally good but will be interesting to see him up against real quality and pace. anyway a million times better than chiriches so has to play!

3.) Agree but he has to play with Vert in the centre! Kaboul has no concentration span and is a liability! If Verts goes to left back, then put Dier in with Fazio 😱

4.) 25 Sep 2014 22:15:03
3-1 to us.

5.) I hope you are right spurski, nothing would please me more than a win for us.

6.) 26 Sep 2014 13:16:20
Let's hope so. What we want is 100% commitment, full on passion. I got a feeling Lamela is going to step up.

7.) I can accept losing to them if we show 100% commitment if they are better than us on the day.

I'd be tempted to throw Mason and Kane in from the start - they have the history to know what this game means to the club and its fans.

I know all the he isn't good enough chatter, but Kane scores goals (mostly at the right end).

Harry Kane is useless with one-on-ones. Same problem last season, never has any conviction with his final drive or a finish.

Simmo

1.) Harry Kane is useless full stop!

Just out of interest, would you rather have Paulinho or Fellaini?

Simmo

1.) Fellaini for me Simmo, Although I still wouldn't buy him either, but to be fair he was good at Everton, played out of position at United (Why are we looking at him?)

For some reason I cannot see Paulinho progressing I thought he looked poor in the World Cup, I think the Italian league would suit him.

2.) 05 Aug 2014 17:59:05
Paulinho. Fellaini does absolutely nothing. Paulinho has chipped in with a few goals here and there.

Plus, we already have Paulinho. Why bother wasting money to sign Fellaini?

3.) 05 Aug 2014 20:00:33
I'd probably just about go with Paulinho, although he does slow the game down far too often at least he can offer a goal threat.

4.) 05 Aug 2014 20:36:40
Was just interested in opinions given Fellaini is looking like being shipped out and we have a lot who feel the same about Paulinho. In my opinion Fellaini had less of a chance last season but Paulinho didn't know the league (or his manager) but, he has done it in the league before whereas Paulinho is still a gamble.

5.) Fellanni, has more potential and a better work rate . To be honest, don't want either . Broke my heart when Jose didn't buy him Paulinho!

Italian papers reporting Napoli close to signing Kramer. Presumably that would be instead of Sandro not as well as?

Paulinho has looked woeful for Brazil. The Belgian contingent are gelling as well as they have at Spurs with Vertonghen looking equally off his game. All bodes well! Haha.

At the moment we shouldn't worry about anybody being sold apart from Eriksen or Lloris.

Simmo

1.) 25 Jun 2014 13:35:04
Make that just lloris. If you took note of eriksen's twitter you would realise he's committed to spurs.

2.) I hope you are right, but I fear that talk is cheap.

It is eay to be 100% committed to a club when there are no offers on the table, but if a Champions League club shows interest in him he might change his tune.

Would be strange for anybody to play tonight if they're going to be gone within 48-72hrs! Also, Poch said he wanted Townsend to stay.

Simmo

{Ed002's Note - I really would not make such assumptions.}

Although not alone, Holtby again fails to put down much of a marker tonight against lowly opposition. Not a witch-hunt, just quantifying previous post with this as a typical example.

Holtby is so over-rated and not sure why apart from his like ability and attitude. As far as football goes it seems there's no obvious position he makes his own, his passing is patchy, his tackling is usually amiss or just a miss!
Great guy, could come good but we have so many 'could come good' players that I think have shown more in less game time than Holtby.
As I said, I like him but just don't think he's indispensable.

Young is one thing, going after all unproven and/or academy graduates if it's not a financial necessity is a wishful ideology rather than a philosophy in this day and age - you need class and some experience or kiss the top 6 goodbye. A lot of noises so far make us sound Villa-esque! We're not going to get superstars but we need to buy quality in those key, weak positions and have the right blend in a system they understand and can play in the positions required.
Agree totally with the comment about ending up in a situation where you might as well have kept Sherwood and gone for anybody 'trying-hard' as our main mantra.

Dunno where we got that resolve and determination from today but thank goodness it appeared. Real shame the goal we conceded was still a sloppy, soft one as usual but overall defence was very good. Ade is shot at the moment, could've buried them if he'd been at his best but wasn't up to it.
Excellent from Mason given the occasion, potential to be good. Credit Chadli for a cool finish after his abysmal, panicked effort in the first half.

Seriously Ulster, an intelligence match with you? That is a bit unfair, ok you're favourites for Saturday's clash but know your limits mate.
No we're not in it but don't get too large when you have been scraping in and struggling in it for years now. Embarrassed again the other week as always against any half decent opposition. No excuses now, Wenger can't hide behind net spend or wage excuses, you're chucking millions around. Let's see if it gets you any closer.

Come on, remember they're qualifying so consistently that we must realise how brilliant they are to be struggling in their qualifiers and group even when they're gifted top seed every year!

Fair enough Spurski, my thoughts are I just hope (not maliciously because the guy gave his all for us) that the club know there's every chance Sandro can't stay fit or play at his best anymore. At his best he was definitely a beast at what he did, one of the best that would need big money to replace so, getting rid seems a risk to me. Hoping obviously that BS is indeed a good acquisition.

Interested to know what you base that opinion on spurski? Seen a lot of him at Montpellier? (Genuine question).
