Jay Rodriguez is evens on joining us, is he a main target for us eds? Surely that also means a change in formation as his preferred position is on the left wing.

{Ed002's Note - Jay Rodriguez has attracted the attention of Spurs but right now he would need to prove his fitness and pass a medical for a transfer to happen this summer.}

If Rodriguez is a top target of ours we might aswell give up, he is no better than what we already have.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? He is fast, strong, skilful. Not sure what striker at Spurs is anywhere near his level personally! He does need to work on his finishing, but he is a class above Kane, for example. So who are you talking about being as good as him at the club already?}

Ed, I would say Soldado and Adebayor are much better. If they were all at their best then there is no contest. Kane hasn't shown his best yet. I would say we could do a lot better than Rodriguez. Will he get us Cl, I don't think so, he simply doesn't score enough.

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe Adebayor is anywhere near better. He is the first player I would get rid of, nothing but a liability imo. As for his goal scoring, would that not improve if the chances created for him are better?}

Adebayor at his best is much better but yes he can be a liability. From what I've seen of Rodriguez he is good but not much more than that. I doubt if he can successfully play upfront alone too. With his injury aswell I would be very surprised if we brought him, that's all spurs need is another injured player!

Which defenders out of the ones we've been linked with are actual priority targets for pocchetino?

Ade at his best is top class, no matter what you think of his attitude and that he can be a liability, he is twice the player Rodriguez is. As for Soldado, the season was a mess in so many ways, on top of the lots of signings having to gel and settle in, it was hard for any of them. Soldado scored 9 goals in total but don't forget Rodriguez only scored 9 in total the season before! He's also just had a major injury. Lukaku please!

6.) 09 Jun 2014
Totally agree Simmo, Rodriguez is not a player we need. Soldado will come good this season after his settling in season! and yes Ade is twice the player Rodriguez is when he is on his game!

IMO Rodriguez would be a player to fill a gap for the short term only. We need someone who is a proven goal scorer which Soldado is! (Most foreign players need a season to adapt!) and his prior record speaks for itself! Lukaku or Michu would be perfect for Spurs!

7.) 09 Jun 2014
Ed what is the problem with ade? He basically saved us under Sherwood and the only player who put any effort in for the second half of the season? I do agree that he is a bit to old but still a quality player at his best.

{Ed001's Note - apart from the fact he only put effort in initially, then it dropped off as his place was assured, it is his mentality that annoys me. He reminds me of Glenn Johnson at Liverpool, all the ability in the world but never use it to its full. Adebayor should be notching 20 goals+ a season with his ability, he should be undroppable by any manager. I would have to say Eriksen did far more than Adebayor at the end of the season and you do him a disservice by suggesting Adebayor basically saved Spurs or that he was the only player putting any effort in.}

8.) 09 Jun 2014
Ed 001, you are so right! Ade is a total mercenary who comes good only for himself or if he needs a contract! How anyone can say he saved the 2nd half of our season is beyond me! A player of his talent should be scoring 20 plus goals a year, every year! He was ignored by AVB, so when TS gave him a chance he had to shine but that soon went! Total and utter mercenary!

9.) 09 Jun 2014
I do agree about how he wasn't the only one that saved us as eriksen and Hugo were unbelievable but without ade up front where would we have finished 7th, 8th or 9th, the guy scored crucial goals at crucial times for us last season. I do feel he goes walkabouts sometimes but on his game he is a brilliant player and I believe he would have easily had over 20+ goals if Sherwood was in charge at the start of the season. He may have some games that he lacks effort but either does most of the squad?

10.) 09 Jun 2014
Probably 55% of his games lacked effort, yes he scored some crucial goals, yes he is a good player when he wants to be, but as soon as he has what he wants, that's it!
Also, if AVB had played to Soldados strengths, we wouldn't have needed him!

Adebayor, Soldado and Rodriguez are all not good enough. Sadly I fear Rodriguez is coming to Spurs, and the view is that he would pass a medical following his injury.

More worryingly it looks like Benteke with his injury is also a lively target, I am beginning to have doubts about Baldini and Levy if these two come off.

How hard is it to bring real class and pride back to Spurs. Surely any two from Balotelli, Morata, Martinez, Lukaku or Hernandez are much better solutions.

Levy we don't want any more risk or excuses, go get us our two big guns!
