I have often given Levy a hard time for not loosening the purse strings. The signing of Sissoko has not changed my mind. The manner of the transfer smacks of panic buying. Reports say we offered 16 million for him and got turned down. Agreeing to pay the asking price and at the last minute, suggests panic after all the other targets ( Isco, Sneiderlin etc. ) fell through. I think £30 million for a 27 year old, who plays well only when he feels like it, who has no respect for anyone only himself ( his treatment of Koeman/ Everton was disgraceful) is at best very risky. I hope it works out well for us but I am nervous!

It may not be 30m . the deal is 5 annual payments of 6m.

If we move him on then, apparently, we will not be making all the payments - though I am sure there is a minimum total in the agreement somewhere.

Not sure how true this is, but makes good business sense which is something that Levy is not short of.

Ive just been reading this but who gets the sell on fee in this instance? If we sell him after 3 years the transfer fee becomes 18m but do we get the sell on fee or does this go to Newcastle in which case doesn't that make it potentially a long term loan? Seems strange to me, if we get the sell on then I'm happy with that deal!

{Ed002's Note - If Spurs sell him on they still owe the money to Newcastle.}

Inter Milan turned us down for Perisic, Coric turned us down, Isco turned us down and Leverusken for Calhagnolu.

Oh and Palace turned us down for Zaha too.

Hi Ed002, what whatever the sell on fee is or the remainder of the 30m in full? If it's the remainder of the 30m then the story which I'm reading is total none sense as its claiming Spurs may not actually have to pay 30mil for him?

I can't believe we have paid 30m for him, the fee is undisclosed which is strange as if it was a 30m take it or leave it why would the fee not be transparent?

Anyway Sissoko better put a shift in like he does for France! If he does he will be a decent addition as we have looked like we lack a little pace in the first games.

{Ed002's Note - The whole lot of course. Spurs have to pay the full transfer fee to buy the player.}

There seems to be a lot of articles appearing to suggest that may not be the case though Ed2. Though I agree with your sentiment we would be expected to make all the payments regardless of how long he stays.

{Ed002's Note - Of course it is not the case. Spurs are committed to paying for the player.}

Ok fair enough Ed002 and to me seems obvious but certainly not what's being suggested in a couple of tabloid reports.

{Ed002's Note - Then they are incorrect.}

Why are you surprised, your Spurs, not a top club!

Neither are Arsenal a top club that's why vardy and many players didn't want to join you plus you can't win a European trophy.

Oddbod, what happened to Lacazette? You ended up with an average player instead.
