Lots of rumours today about us putting a £5m offer in for Danny Ings, any truth Eds? Personally I think its a no brainer at £5m, great young talent

d00gie

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any offers from Ings being listened to at all. Burnley don't need £5m, they would rather lose him on a free in the summer. They have made it plain to everyone, agents, clubs etc, that they are not interested in selling him as the chance of staying in the Premier League is worth tens of millions and no one would pay that for him.}

1.) 26 Jan 2015 20:32:26
Agreed ED the cost of relegation is estimated to be around £25m for a club like Burnley. However if they fancy Vokes and company can keep them up they may take a £10m gamble.

2.) 01 Feb 2015 11:32:37
Oracle, I see that none of your predictions have panned out.again!!

16 Jul 2014 13:53:36
Eds, I've just read that a fee has now been agreed for Davies but he wants to speak to Liverpool first before making his mind up, any truth?

d00gie

{Ed007's Note - He can't speak to LFC until both clubs agree a fee or Swansea give him permission. Right now it looks like Spurs are in the driving seat but LFC might make a further bid.}

Lots of papers reporting were close to a deal for Kalou, any truth Eds?

d00gie

{Ed002's Note - He is considering his options and Spurs are potentially one.}

1.) Please no, still must be better than Kane!

2.) Kalou hasn't actually got a bad record when you look at it!

Would be decent for the price quoted!

3.) Your constant mocking of Kane Davo is boring. Kane is much better than you think.

4.) 18 Jan 2014 09:30:39
For a championship side or a relegation battling team maybe. No a team challenging for top4. Look at the teams around us and look at there strikers, the look at Harry Kane.

5.) Thanks MrG, was beginning to believe spurski for a moment there and looking forward to seeing Kane in an England shirt in brazil . Then I woke up from my nightmare!

6.) This comparison with Kane is ridiculous. Kalou is ten years older and we have seen his best days. You wouldve been saying the same thing about bale when he was Kane's age, not good enough for a top 4 team etc. we still don't know just how good Kane will be.

7.) Kane is what 20? Lukaka is what 20? Don't quote ages, same age, one is a top 4 club striker, one isn't fit to lace the other ones boots! Who can guess which one is which?

8.) Yes Lukaku is better, but people would of also said he was better than Bale when he was 20, look at him now. The point is potential, one still has time to become a top player and one doesn't.

9.) I agree poshspur! Potential is the key and using Bale as a comparison, he is now 24? What's Lukaka going to be worth when he is 24?No one is saying Harry Kane isn't a player with potential, what is being said is there isn't a top ten club that would put excellent money on the table for him and queue to buy him if he was available . Therefore, he's not good enough!

10.) How any true supporter can slate a young 20 year Spurs player who has never been given a chance is simply outrageous.

He has scored over a goal a game in the reserves, and has 12 in 24 at under 21 international level.

Give the kid a chance to shine and like Townsend he will come good. He has filled out in the last 18 months, and will soon be a force up front.

11.) Oh dear I find myself agreeing with Oracle. How can we truly judge a player who hasn't been given a chance?

Saying that I don't rate Kane and have never seen anything to suggest he's a good player yet alone a decent prospect. Comparing him to Townsend isn't the same as even before this season when given a chance you could see Townsend had ability same with Carroll. I do hope Kane proves me wrong but I seriously doubt it.

12.) Problem is Oracle, he couldn't cut it on when on loan! I am not slating him, just saying he isn't a PL top ten team player!

13.) 20 Jan 2014 12:42:21
Ed. any chance of reus. or just lazy journalism?
18spurs

{Ed007's Note - Very lazy imo.}

14.) Ask most of the clubs except QPR and they will tell you townsend was no good for them he had about 10 loan spells before it clicked could be the same for kane

15.) Hang on a second, before we all get too carried away on whether Kane is any good, may come good, may end up being brilliant etc, the main point about this is surely where we are (and where he is) now?
Nobody is saying cut him loose or that he'll never be any good but, we're level on points with 4th and have been in this situation before in January, bodging it up every time and missing out by wafer thin margins.
We have Ade on fire at the moment and Soldado who is a good player but hasn't fully settled into scoring league goals yet. Defoe is going and hasn't even been our number one or two striker for the majority of time so, we're down to just two strikers with a manager that wants to play 4-4-2 when possible plus Kane. In that situation, is Kane good enough? No, sorry he isn't. He might be about to suddenly come good but, a bit of a big gamble to take when you consider all of the above. If we don't bring anybody in then let's all pray it's his time because he's bound to be needed at some point with suspensions, injuries, loss of form (or interest by some) - we've come up just short for 2-3years and we've already had problems with goals for a lot of this season so all the warnings are there.

16.) Good post from above! Problem is Sherwood fancies Kane, Levy doesn't or he wouldn't be thinking of Berba! Sorry but Kane isn't the answer, nor is Obika!
If this is only short term, then get Berba back, low price, could sulk a lot with Ade, but only needs to produce a good 5 months!

17.) Ps! We could always give Lamela a good run in the team!

18.) Lamela upfront in what I believe is his natural position as a striker.

Now that would be interesting.

19.) Oracle. That is the very first thing you have ever said that I agree with.

20.) Crikey, forgot about Lamela, just call me AVB haha.
Actually, come to think of it, Chadli may have played there sometimes too. To be honest though, that has been a problem of ours with several signings, rather than them being a jack-of-all-trades bringing versatility as a huge benefit, it's been more a case of them being master-of-none confusing selection.

A certain red top is reporting Perez is in London to finalise a deal for Bale? Any truth Eds?

If it was true i'd quite like us to hijack the Higuain deal. you know what with our 'special relationship' with Real {Ed002's Note - Higuain will be moving to Arsenal. I have no idea where Perez is today.}

d00gie

1.) I hear that Levy is not in London, so that would make any meeting tough

2.) Yeah I posted that hours before the story about AVB saying Bale will not be sold. doh!

d00gie

3.) Ed do you really think arsenal will sign Higuan? {Ed002's Note - What did I write?}

Just heard a rumour that Paulinho has signed a pre contract agreement with Inter Milan which would be a shame for us, he looks like a bright prospect

d00gie

1.) Guarin replacement!

2.) Im so glad this Inter pre-contract rumour looks like being nonsense as Paulinho looks class. With the confirmation of Baldini and AVB looking like he is staying i'm starting to feel calmer about next season.

Paulinho, Bernard and a couple of strikers and we're going to have real shot next season! COYS

Does anyone know anything about Stambouli? By the sounds of it its a done deal. I don't quite understand why, if he is so highly rated we've managed to get him for £4.7m?

d00gie

1.) Newcastle managed to get Cabaye for around 4.5m. Am assuming Pochettino must see qualities in the player that will work his footballing philosophy.

However, I do think it is a real shame that it doesn't look like the club will be getting Schneiderlin in this window. He would have been a useful player to have yesterday. Him and Dembele in the middle from the start could have made a huge difference.
Perhaps a move in January if a couple of other players are moved on, though.

2.) Dembele - Goes missing to much, I can't recall him ever having an outstanding game for us. He's a very average player.

3.) Im not saying there aren't bargains to be had, i'd just never heard of this guy. He has obviously been brought in to replace Sandro who looks certain to go to QPR. Which is such a shame but if he can't stay fit he is no good to us.

As for Dembele he should be one of the best in the league as he has everything, but like you said DR when has he had an outstanding game for us? Maybe Poch can get the best out of him?

4.) 01 Sep 2014 20:38:09
d00gie, I believe he was in the last year of his contract. If so then that would make sense of the price and why he was so appealing to levy lol.

28 Jul 2014 20:14:33
twitter has gone mental tonight about spurs being close to deals for Rodriguez and Schneiderlin. I feel a bit for Bentaleb IMO he got better every game he played for us and had a cracking World Cup but I don't see him getting much game time if Schneiderlin comes in which will be a shame for his development.

Im looking forward to seeing fast attacking football back at the lane, if we can get a good young CB in then we could have a great season COYS

d00gie

1.) Sorry but we must have been watching different players . Got better with every game?

2.) DOOGIE
Fast attacking football is at the lane every week, just watch the opposition
LOL

I have just heard Gareth Bale has handed in transfer request in!

He is worried about getting first team football this year due to our recent transfer business

;)

d00gie

1.) He expects to recover from the broken toe nail before the end of the season then? ;-)

2.) Where is all this talk about Lennon leaving for Inter coming from.?
Personally I thought Lennon was getting better each season. He may find himself on the bench now. Assuming Willian signs that is which to be honest looks very likely now.

Anyway unnamed poster £21,000,000 for Lennon. Jesus man. Where the f**K did that valuation come from.

Oh Oracle, you are constantly hoisted by your own petard if you didn't use words like guaranteed, definite, a hundred percentage then you wouldn't be slated so much. Everyone loves a rumour and to be given hope of the impossible signing you just need to learn how to play your crowd

Report saying were trying to hijack Liverpools bid for Konoplyanka?

Reports today that Bernard has been talking to Hulk about Porto, its a bit of a none story but he talks of his admiration for them, Ed's do we have serious interest in Bernard? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Mineiro's Bernard rejected opportunities to join Zenit and a Qatar side last summer but there is a lingering thought that he may still move on. Inter went as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard last summer, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Dortmund spoke with Atletico Mineiro about the player but have seemingly dropped their interest deciding the asking price was too high. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea, Manchester City and Roma have been keeping a close eye on his progress, but all seem reluctant to make any move. He was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012, but that was pre-Rodgers and I doubt there is any chance of a move to Anfield. This leaves Benfica and Porto who are the clubs who would look to a deal probably based on part ownership or a significant part of his fee being paid in the future, and Spurs who have had a bid turned down. Whether Spurs pursue their interest remains to be seen.

KM, great post. I agree with you. Quite a lot aren't happy with our window but our squad looks settled and players look happy under Poch which I think will be key to getting his methods across. I think the Liverpool game came to soon for us.

Top 4 will be tough this season, you can't look past city/chelsea 1st and 2nd, then it will be Spurs, United, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal fighting for those next two spots. Newcastle might even surprise a few.

Here's hoping exciting football's back at the lane COYS

Northeast Spurs - I couldn't agree more, i'd almost take beating Liverpool over Arsenal this season - almost - just because of how they embarrassed us last season (and a lot of my mates are pool fans - arrogant tw*ts at that).

There's been no drama's preseason, everyone looks happy, we're playing like team, we have a strong squad, I have to keep pinching myself as it feels like a dream - if we beat liverpool on sunday it will be a wet one!

Simmo, completely agree with you, this game was a game too far for Bentalab! Constantly got caught in possession in the first half and kept giving the ball away. He's going to be a very good player and last night will have be great experience for him, but sherwood should have played Capoue from the start.

Pains me to say, but i'm devo'd you got Ozil. If you can keep your squad injury free then it will be close between us again. A couple of injuries in key positions before January and you going to struggle though
