Ok, so lots of rumours about who is going and who is coming and so forth, well for my money, no one in the current first team should need to go. The boss/ board did his/ their sums for this and next season including the costs of the new stadium. Yes we should, like all teams remove some deadwood, but wholesale changes are not (IMHO) required.
We need a strong finish to the end of a very long season and look forward to European Football again next season.

Now I can imagine there are a few frustrations with our team tonight, especially when they opt to stay on the team bus for the first half! I lay the blame for this defeat firmly at the feet of the manager. Klopp can inspire a Liverpool team no better talented than our squad, to beat City, so why not us? If we are to progress any further in the FA cup and realise 4th place, we need players to perform from the kick-off. If not and you want to play by the minute.

Just donate your wages for your 'non-committed' part of the game to a local North London charity. There are 4 games to go in the league and we need 4 wins, anything less is failure. Did we really put out our first team tonight? COYS.

I’d argue our team is better, but that’s not really the point, you are capable or atleast giving them a game but I was disappointed in how you guys played, you can turn up against any team yet it was like you decided you couldn’t be bothered. I think the team comaraderie isn’t quite there like it is for us at Liverpool, players wanting to leave, Harry Kane really pushing a goal from Eriksen. Then next week you’ll go smash someone and it’ll be The opposite of the performance at city.

YOU have a talented bunch though and when they click, as they usually do, you’re very effective.

Hi guys, I can understand the frustration from today's game against Swansea. We have to find a way to beat teams who want to 'park the bus' in their own half.
We have quality players in the squad and need to employ those in positions that challenge the opposition. Watching other teams that encounter this 'park the bus ' problem, they rely on a lot of movement around the penalty box, working their triangles until an opening appears.
If we were 'stage drunk' after the mid-week success over BD, the coaching staff have their work cut out to keep the players focused.

Problem is Tiffy, what creativity do we have on the bench if Erikson and Ali have a quiet game.

Hi, Does anyone believe the rumours about the food poisoning of squad members being down to an actual attempt to sabotage the squad? If so, what are the club officials doing to prevent a re-occurrence before the Norwich game. COYS.

The breakaway football Spurs played last night was very similar to that they played very successfully under Poch with a lot of positive results. At last HK was getting service in the box and of course his own passing service was sublime.
The handball incident that led to the penalty was unfortunate but he will learn from that experience just like Dier had to last season.
I thought both the new signings played well yesterday with Bentacour full of running.
Yes, we gave the ball away too cheaply but then so did City. A very good win in the end and a team performance that hopefully has steadied the ship as they prepare for a run of games to clear the backlog of fixtures.

great performance but as we all know its one step forwards and two steps back with spurs. we need to follow this up against burnley and then leeds, the side we put out against city was great but I would make one change and that is rodon for davies.

Hi Eds, I was wondering if you knew of a precedent where postponed matches ever became cancelled and their outcomes decided by an arbitration panel. Spurs currently have 3 P. L. Games to try and reschedule, do you see a situation where this might not happen?
Cheers,
COYS.

Tiffy68

{Ed001's Note - yes. It has just happened in Europe, your game there is to be decided by a panel as there was no way to reschedule them. In the Premier League, there is much more flexibility over time, so it is highly unlikely. What is more likely to happen is that they squeeze extra games in early part of next year, so Spurs would have to play every 2 days. That is what has happened previously. It has even happened that a team has had to play on consecutive days, iirc.}

I must agree Dr THFC, with Deli looking like a weak link, all opposition players will target him if he has a defensive duty at a set piece. That said, it's a relatively easy fix. Chelsea did move the ball around a lot better in the 2nd half and had plenty of willing runners off it. We definitely need to improve that area of our game if we are to create goal scoring chances. There were a few flashes of interchange between Son and Kane but too few and thwarted without support. I remember that it took the players a while to play the Poch way but when they did they could make quick breakaways. We don't have that anymore and it will always be hard to break down teams who all get back behind the ball. A tough league cup game mid-week and a bigger challenge on Sunday. Let's hope the boys can turn this around and stem the losses. COYS.

We are a long way from Pochs best days.

The players we’ve brought in midfield to provide creativity have failed. Lo Celso has failed to deliver anything, Ndombele the one showing the most upside still isn’t fit enough to play 90 minutes in the PL. If Kane keeps dropping into defensive holding midfield position our best striker will be missing more often from the opponent’s final third.

It will be interesting to see which players show up for the shirt on Sunday.

I think partrici has been absolutely awful in the transfer market, I have no confidence in this football club until Enic are gone, we will lose tonight and on Sunday.

It was good to see HK back in goal scoring form and with the Captain's armband. Give him a pay rise and let's move on. New signings looked lively and indeed it appeared the work ethic of the other players had gone up a notch. Early days yet but the squad seem to be responding positively to the new Manager. I'm happy we are now in the group stages of a new European competition, League Cup draw and eventually the F. A. cup draw, which should keep the players motivated to fight for places.

M wheels, you are so right about the majority of lateral and own half passing that happens when we take to the field now. Very few positives to take from these latest performances under Jose. Whatever happened to the quick breaks from Son and Moura, the style that got us so far in the CL last season.

What sort of coach tells his players to break quickly into the oppositions half but then wait for them to get defensively organised. Sheer madness. Last night at one point it appeared we had 8 attacking players on the pitch but still could not co-ordinate a decent strike on goal.

Supposed poor refereeing decisions and even VAR going against us could be blamed for the players getting frustrated and it affecting their game but these are professional footballers whose mindset should be strong and positive as induced by the coaching staff. We have about 72 hours to get them mentally prepared for the derby game in an empty stadium. Let's get to it. COYS.

I agree NES, a clear penalty shout ignored and 4 or more in front of goal opportunities. I know Poch values squad rotation but come on, the prime aim is TO WIN THE GAME. Son is in form so why have him on the bench? I feel Sissoko and a few other players should be given 'the only' pep talk that is relevant "Shape up or ship out". This current level of inconsistency is what will get us middle of the table status if the players do not improve. Dier looked very mediocre last night (I know there were others) but don't you think that once players get an England cap (same with Walker) they think they have made it and there is no need for them to improve or play to a high standard week in week out. Poch needs to re-instill in the players a winning mentality that sees them play with confidence and then play our strongest team on the day.

There are two tactical and one mental issue (I'm sure there are more) I would like to highlight, which in my opinion are giving us problems. Firstly, the lack of width is giving us fewer options out of defence and going forward, making it too easy for the opposition to contain. Secondly, a high percentage of our midfield inter-passing is breaking down, leaving us very vulnerable to counter-attacking. Keeping players, not just designated players but anyone out there on the touch line, means the opposition have to cover, which creates more space down the channels and centrally for exploiting or not. This does not mean that we have to play with the equivalent of old fashioned wingers, just have players out there to play off. As for the inter-passing, this should improve as players in the team get to know each other's movement better, there have been signs of the 'triangles' working, however, this appears to breakdown more times than we would like and needs addressing.
The mental issue, where we seem to be unable to concentrate throughout a game will take a bit more effort to resolve. I agree with the previous posts regarding the lack of a natural leader in the team who can take charge when lapses in concentration happen. The quick second half goal scored by Newcastle is a prime example and whilst we all may lay the blame at the right back, even our 'trusted' International who is currently injured has been caught out of position before!
In closing I would just like to emphasis a prediction of mine from an earlier post. Harry Kane will be an England No.9.
Now back to the training ground. COYS.

tiffy68

{Ed001's Note - the mental issue could be down to fatigue. Poch trains his players much harder than most managers and that often leads to players being tired in the early days of his reign. As they get used to the extra training session that might well resolve itself.}

I thought Remy failed a medical for the Liverpool transfer, if that is true, why would we proceed?
