Hi Ed's

Hope all well. I was hoping to get an update to see if your aware of any transfer activity we might have in January, due our lack of activity in the summer. Or is it a case of sticking with what we have until next summer?

Thanks in advance
Stuart.

Stuart

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer questions about the timing of transfers and you need to remember that clubs will generally want to avoid selling in January as replacements are harder to come by. Regardless, Spurs can expect departures of some players:
Mousa Dembele (CM) - China beckons but a possible season at Roma may just be an option
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (LW) Spurs want him gone in January
Fernando Llorente (S) will leave in the summer

They have targets but money is going to be tight for a while and they may struggle to attract players - but they have been looking:
Adrien Rabiot (CM) - will look for a pre-contract in January but looks to be heading elsewhere
Frenkie De Jong (CM) - looks to be heading elsewhere and Ajax have rejected a very significant offer from Spurs
Hector Herrera (CM) - I think something can happen
Amadou Diawara (DM/CM) a natural replacement for Mousa Dembele but I would doubt Napoli will want to sell and it is hard to see why the player would want to move
Tanguy Ndombele (DM/CM) - Back in January I was told by one senior Arsenal scout that Tanguy Ndombele had been watched several times and Arsenal and Spurs were very keen. Since then Arsenal have turned to Torreira. Lyon have taken up their option to buy Ndobele and Spurs might need to more than double what they pay in order to buy him from them even if he were available - and then it would be unclear how he could ever get a game with Dier and Wanyama at the club - so it seems unlikely for now
Steven Bergwijn (LW) Spurs remain keen but another side has already held discussions about a move
Joel Asoro (S) Spurs will look to bring Asoro in from Swansea as a replacement for the departing Fernando Llorente but the player may look at the move to the Spurs reserves initially as not a step up in his career}

Hi Ed's

Just wanting to see if you have any information on potential targets we have for the January transfer window?

Thanks in advance
Stuart.

Stuart

{Ed002's Note - There is every chance that Danny Rose (LB) will leave in the January window and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (LW) will go (at least a loan) but the club may not look to direct replacements then.
Spurs continue to look at players including:
Joris Gnagnon (CB) - Will depend on contract renewals, but Spurs are still interested in him - perhaps one for the future
Ryan Sessegnon (LB) - but £50M asking price - an auction for next summer perhaps
Adam Masina (LB) might provide an option to Sessegnon
Kieran Tierney (LB) - very unlikely
Dani Ceballos (CM) - there is interest
Ross Barkley (AM) - on the cheap in January or for nothing in the summer
Max Meyer (W/AM) - moving in the direction of being unlikely
Jann-Fiete Arp (S) 17YO from Hamburg but looks to be heading elsewhere

I cannot sensibly say which might be available in January, but Spurs may look to grab Barkley.

Thanks Ed002 for your prompt and informative reply.

Can I ask what you know if there are rumours of discontent within the camp or is it all paper talk? Also do you have any insight into Toby's contract talks?

Thanks
Stuart.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Stuart. If a team has a dip in form there will always be a few folk who are not happy. On the plus side, the new stadium is something else. I paid a visit as the start of last week and they were trying out the model of the removal pitch segments. It is very impressive indeed.}

2.) 06 Dec 2017 15:17:53
Thanks Ed002, and I'm glad to hear its all just paper talk.

I'm looking forward to taking my son to his first Spurs match next season.

Hi Ed's
Just wondering have you heard any transfer rumours for Spurs for the summer transfer window? Obviously defence and striker positions are being mentioned. Do you have any names of incomings and outgoings?

Also what is happening with our transfer policies? Is Baldini still involved or is he on the verge of leaving? I for one would like him to stay on, on the capacity of speaking to agents rather than referrals.

Hope you can enlighten us Ed's

Thanks
Stuart

FROM ED002:

"Much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) if there is a change of ""at the top"" and (c) Champions League qualification. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players - noting that the scouts are looking to figure out the front:

DF: Cologne centre back Kevin Wimmer will almost certainly make the move to Spurs in the Summer.}

DM: Arsenal will look to Southampton's Schneiderlin this summer and I suspect a deal can be done ""at the right price"". It has been suggested that Spurs may also look to him but interest from Napoli has gone.

M: Ogenyi Onazi has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Hertha Berlin and Ajax in the past 9 months and has been subject to being scouted by a number of clubs including Spurs and West Ham. If there is recent interest from Liverpool then I cannot confirm it. This sounds like a recycled story from more than a year ago when Liverpool did look to the player. I cannot imagine what use he would be to the club now after the summer arrivals.

Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea enquired about Rabiot in 2013 and PSG were not keen to sell. Chelsea and Arsenal both enquired again in the summer of 2014 but would see him as one for the future - and neither will commit to the guarantee of first team football that was being requested by the player. Rabiot has been bleating about not being in the first team at PSG and a move to Arsenal or Chelsea would not resolve that in the short term. However, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle and Manchester City have had him watched and Spurs were keen on taking him on a loan to buy deal in January. Although previously backing away due to the request for a guarantee of playing time, talks are again happening with Juventus. Spurs has to be a contender still.

PSG and Manchester City remain keen on the signing of Miralem Pjanic but both are constrained by UEFA sanctions and will need to sell before buying - and may well be put off by the price. PSG would be willing to include Verratti as part of the deal but Verratti is set on a move elsewhere. Liverpool and Spurs have enquired and are aware that he could be available at the right price - but that would be very high (?50M) and the player has said he has no interest in either club - whether or not that would change if the asking price and wages were matched I don't know. Manchester United also made an enquiry before appointing a new manager in the summer, but it went nowhere. Borussia Dortmund and Zenit St Petersburg seem to have dropped their interest. The player is looking for £250k per week in wages and would probably not be interested in moving to a non-Champions League club. Roma's owners have said they don't want to sell but the player is looking for a way out.

AM: There have been offers and enquiries for Draxler. Both Milan clubs, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea have enquired at one level or another about Draxler - each has met a ""not for sale"" barrier. I expected a deal might be brokered this past summer and Arsenal are the team that have consistently pushed for a deal. The player has given mixed responses to interest from Arsenal and they have probably moved on now. Shakhtar Donetsk originally baulked at Atletico Mineiro's valuation of Bernard but managed to negotiate a deal for him to join in the summer of 2013. Chelsea (who had maintained a long term interest), Manchester City, Porto and Roma had been keeping a close eye on his progress, but all seemed reluctant to make any move, certainly at the asking price. He was also one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012, but that was pre-Rodgers. Spurs and Arsenal both put offers on the table that were seen to be far too low last summer. The player has not settled in the Ukraine and is angling for a move, and has mentioned the previous interest of Spurs, Arsenal and Porto. Whether either of the English clubs wish to pursue their previous interest remains to be seen but both might be open to taking him on loan. Porto, Corinthians and Bayern Munich are looking to a deal for Bernard. I understand that there is an agent looking to represent Bernard with promises of a transfer and the possibility that Chelsea and Manchester City interest - which right now is incorrect.}

W:
Wolfsburg, Roma, Sevilla, Spurs, Shakhtar and Bayer Leverkusen have shown recent interest in Konoplyanka who is able to sign a pre-contract with any non Ukrainian side. Spurs and Roma have put the most effort in to trying to put a deal in place for the summer. If Liverpool are going to look to the player again (and I don't know that they are), then it would be perhaps to replace Sterling. Braga's Rafa Silva has been of interested to Southampton, Wolfsburg and Schalke. Bayer Leverkusen, Marseille and Spurs have had him watched but to the best of my knowledge not enquired further.

PSV's Memphis Depay has attracted interest from a number of clubs with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Newcastle, Spurs, Marseille and Manchester United looking to see of a deal can be struck this past summer. Marseille signed Batshuayi and dropped their interest in Depay, and I suspect both Manchester City and Real Madrid have dropped their interest. Manchester United, Newcastle and Spurs are known to still keeping an eye on the player with Everton and Liverpool also both having had the player watched recently. Someone very knowledgable about football in the Netherlands has suggested that a move to Newcastle would suit him better than the likes of Real Madrid or the Manchester sides as he would need a couple of years to establish himself in the first team and sitting on the bench will not help him at all. He has also advised the player against a move to Spurs, and his views are well enough thought of to likely remove them from being an option for the player himself. No offers have been made to PSV at this time but it is know that a figure between ?25M and £30M would be enough for them not to block a move. The expectation remains that a move to Manchester United is most likely.

PSVs Zakaria Bakkali has attracted attention from Celtic, Manchester United, Chelsea, Zwolle, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Stoke, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Norwich and Augsburg. I spoke with a ""specialist"" in the Netherlands leagues last summer and he said the player is light years away from first team football in the EPL and any move this past summer would have potentially been a dent in his career - although Chelsea did offer to send him to Vitesse Arnhem on loan. A lot of the ""bigger"" clubs that were interested have seemingly stepped back. A move to Celtic or Zwolle would probably be best for the kid but I am not so sure he sees it that way.}

F: Monaco, Southampton, West Ham, Lazio, Stoke and Everton have a declared interest in Javier Hernandez. If the price is reasonable Inter, Galatasaray, Spurs and Valencia could revive their previous interest. Dortmund have made an enquiry with his agent as well.

Recent interest from Spurs in Fernando Llorente has been ramping up. Spurs and Everton have shown an interest in Fenerbahce's Emenike.
Inter, Arsenal, Valencia, Roma and Villarreal are all interested in Boca's Jonathan Calleri. Atletico, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and Real Madrid all enquired after Vietto in the summer of 2013. I understand that there is current interest from Atletico, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Juventus with Spurs having approached his agent at the end of February as well. An interesting side issue is that Barcelona, unable to buy players before January 2016, have offered to provide Villareal with a player (apparently suitable for their first team) on loan from this coming summer if they can get an option on the player for January. I think that is unlikely to work out and talks will soon begin with Real Madrid. Spurs have had the player watched.

Sporting Lisbon are open to selling Islam Slimani with interest from Spurs, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Bordeaux who would like him on loan. Monaco, Spurs, Lazio and Milan have shown an interest in Bacca but the player says he is happy with Sevilla and the future plans the club has. There is certainly interest from England with West Ham and Sunderland and a suggestion that Spurs were looking at Bordeaux's loaned Emiliano Sala when represented at a game recently - but I am not so sure about that.

Enquiries have been made for Sassuolo's Zaza by Eintracht Frankfurt and Spurs. Juventus only recently sold the remainder of his rights to Sassuolo and a clause allowing Juventus to match any sale offer exists - so an offer from elsewhere needs to be on the table before that clause can be exercised. Alternatively, Juventus might wish to short-track a deal with Sassuolo at a fixed-price, albeit higher than that which they otherwise might be able to buy him. There is no final agreement at this time.}"

Thanks Ed002 & Ed008 for your informative response as always. What do you mean by changes at the top? Has this something to do with Baldini?

Thanks
Stuart

{Ed002's Note - Don't read too much in to it, it means if there are changes in the organisation or management that could impact transfers.}

3.) 23 Apr 2015 13:07:11
Thanks Ed002.

Also what are your thoughts on the Lloris situation, is it paper talk or is there any substance to the rumours?

Thanks
Stuart

{Ed002's Note - I understand that a club has made a direct, and illegal, approach to Lloris and will use the Champions League to try and disrupt him.}

Hii Ed002,

Sorry to disturb you and I trust your well? What is your take on Poch situation? Is he basically telling Levy to spend the money or does he feel he's taken Spurs as far as he can?

Thanks in advance.
Stuart.

Stuart

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid I am not aware of him having told Daniel Levy anything about money. Sorry.}

1.) 22 May 2019 15:46:21
I'll be glad to see the back of levy and pochetinho who have done nothing at spurs but build a new ground, give me a manager who knows how to lift silverware not finishing 4th most seasons, yes he's not has much money to spend at spurs but he's got a fantastic squad to play with in a world cup winner goalkeeper, 2 Belgian centre backs,2 England full backs, the best player in Asia in son, best player in Denmark in eriksen, and then dele Ali in midfield with one of the best forwards in world football in Kane yet he can't win nowt.

Hi Ed's

Its coming near the time to silly season again. I'm surprised non of my fellow YODS have asked if you have any transfer rumours or whom Spurs are looking at so I thought I may as well ask?

Thanks in advance
Stuart.

Stuart

{Ed002's Note - What I did try to explain turned to abuse - so try again in a couple of weeks.}

Hi Ed's

Have you list of any potential outgoings at Spurs? I read on the Manchester United page, Spurs are hoping Toby signs as another CB is potentially leaving?

Thanks in advance
Stuart

PS Proudest night last night to be a Spurs fan.

Stuart

{Ed002's Note - Serge Aurier (RB) after a poor season and Kyle Walker-Peters emerging Aurier and Trippier could be let go with one replacement coming in
Kieran Trippier (RB)
Danny Rose (LB) if a decent offer arrives and Spurs have Ben Davies stepping up already
Toby Alderweireld (CB) it depends on the contract situation
Jan Vertonghen (CB) Spurs are assessing whether Cameron Carter-Vickers is ready or not to step up with only a year left on JVs contract
Victor Wanyama (DM) does not need replacing with Oliver Skipp stepping up
Moussa Sissoko (CM) I expect he will stay unless someone were to pay well over the odds
Erik Lamela (RW) Spurs are looking to replace him
Christian Eriksen (AM) if he won't agree a new contract he could well be attracted by a move elsewhere
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (LW) will not need replacing and will need to step down a bit to restart his career
Vincent Janssen (S)
Fernando Llorente (S) will be leaving }

Hi Ed002

I was just wondering if you had any of the information that Spurs23 asked for I see you were busy last week. If you have time could you give us some indication on in's and outs please?

Thanks
Stuart

Stuart

{Ed002's Note - I'll try and do an update early next week Stuart. Busy few days right now.}
