rummours say we have bid 6 mill for Jamaal Lascelles do you know anything about this eds also Ben Davies is suppose to be going on a tour of usa for 2 weeks today with swans have to see what happens.

{Ed008's Note - Ed001 has mentioned on the Liverpool page that Spurs have made an offer for him. A player can easily fly back from a tour to sort out a transfer.

thanks ed008 I've had a look, ed001 do you have any more info about that bid thanks ps that walkers sounds like a fantasy nut like the orcale how do u put up with so many peolpe who know everthing.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think he is a fantasy nut, he just has his blinkers on and assumes everyone wants to join Spurs. Some people find it difficult to step back and think about it from the viewpoint of someone who is not a fan. He does have a point, in that Lovren was very keen to work with Poch again, but that was before Liverpool bid for him. He wants to prove himself in the Champions League and Spurs haven't got that carrot to dangle.

Spurs themselves have moved on anyway, they know how he feels, so they have gone for targets that would like the step up. Lascelles was the subject of a bid that was rejected by Forest, but the question is how the player feels about it. I am told he would like the opportunity to play in the Prem, but is not going to push for a move, as things stand. With the FFP ruling, Forest's owners can't bankroll huge spending, without increasing income, so they are willing to sell, in order to raise funds for team strengthening, if the price is right for them. I don't believe Spurs value him highly enough to make them sell though.

As for Davies, he would be happy to make the move if the two clubs agree a deal, but again is not looking to move on. They already have Taylor wanting a move because he is not playing, I expect them to sell him and hold onto Davies, unless Spurs significantly raise their bid. If Oviedo was fit, the Costa Rican left back who is Leighton Baines understudy at Everton, then I would have expected a bid for him. Poch rates him very highly and wanted him the previous summer at Southampton. I do expect Spurs to move on from Davies though, unless he can be persuaded to force a move. The young lad at Newcastle (is it Haidara?) is one very possible option, he has been monitored by Spurs, and he hasn't had as much first team football as he wants.}

So, Ed 001, I gather from your post that spurs are planning to buy young academy graduates mainly, no completed players.

{Ed001's Note - Poch likes players he can mould into his system, so he will be looking for younger ones to work with - mainly.}

Young is one thing, going after all unproven and/or academy graduates if it's not a financial necessity is a wishful ideology rather than a philosophy in this day and age - you need class and some experience or kiss the top 6 goodbye. A lot of noises so far make us sound Villa-esque! We're not going to get superstars but we need to buy quality in those key, weak positions and have the right blend in a system they understand and can play in the positions required.
Agree totally with the comment about ending up in a situation where you might as well have kept Sherwood and gone for anybody 'trying-hard' as our main mantra.
